Financial Content Sources & Research Policy
Harshonomics aims to provide clear, practical and responsible financial information by using relevant, reliable and preferably primary sources wherever they are available.
Why Sources Matter
Financial information can change over time. Interest rates, tax rules, government schemes, regulations, investment products and market-related information may be updated or revised.
For this reason, Harshonomics does not treat every financial statement or historical figure as permanently valid. Important information is reviewed in the context of its date, source and intended use.
Sources We Prefer
Government Sources
Government departments, ministries, official portals, notifications, reports and other relevant public authorities are preferred for government schemes, taxes, rules and official statistics.
Regulatory & Institutional Sources
Where relevant, information may be checked against official regulatory or institutional sources, such as RBI, SEBI, IRDAI, PFRDA, NSE, BSE and other applicable institutions.
Official Product Information
For financial products and services, official documentation, product terms, schedules, rate information and other published material may be reviewed where appropriate.
Reliable Secondary Sources
Reputable financial publications, research material and other credible secondary sources may also be used when they provide useful context or help explain a topic.
How Financial Information Is Researched
Identify the Information
The specific financial claim, calculation, rule, rate or concept is identified before researching the topic.
Check Relevant Sources
Relevant primary or official sources are considered first, particularly when the topic involves regulations, government schemes, taxes or financial institutions.
Compare Information
Where appropriate, information is compared across relevant sources to identify differences, limitations or changes.
Explain With Context
Information is presented with relevant dates, assumptions and limitations instead of presenting estimates as guaranteed outcomes.
Time-Sensitive Financial Information
Some financial information changes frequently. Examples include interest rates, tax rules, government schemes, regulatory requirements, market data and product terms.
When information is time-sensitive, the applicable date or period should be considered. Readers should also verify current terms with the relevant official source before making an important financial decision.
Historical Data & Return Figures
Historical investment returns, market performance and past financial data describe what happened during a particular period. They do not guarantee future performance.
When historical figures are discussed, Harshonomics aims to provide appropriate context rather than presenting past performance as a promise of future returns.
Calculator & Formula Sources
Financial calculators on Harshonomics are based on established mathematical and financial formulas appropriate to the calculation. Inputs, assumptions, formulas and limitations are explained where relevant.
Calculator results are estimates based on the information entered by the user. They should not be interpreted as guaranteed financial outcomes.
View Calculator MethodologyUpdating Financial Content
Harshonomics may review existing content when important information changes, when a source is updated, or when an article contains time-sensitive information that requires revision.
Where appropriate, updated content should reflect the relevant date or period so readers can understand when the information was reviewed.
What Our Sources Do Not Mean
The presence of a source does not mean that Harshonomics is endorsing every statement, product or investment mentioned by that source.
Sources are used to support factual information, provide context or explain financial concepts. Readers should consider their own circumstances and verify current information before taking financial action.
Financial Information Is Educational
Harshonomics provides financial education, explanations and calculators. The information is not a substitute for personalized financial, tax, legal or investment advice from a qualified professional.
